Greetings Brothers of the Southwestern Province!
The 79th Grand Chapter meeting is around the corner. Your Southwestern Province leadership is working hard to help make this meeting one of the best for you.  To help us achieve our goal, we need your help. Please read the items below, act on the items that require immediate action, and cascade to the other members of your chapter.

79th GRAND CHAPTER MEETING
REGISTRATION: The 79TH Grand Chapter Meeting is scheduled for August 4-9, 2009 in Washington, DC. The registration form is located on the Southwestern Province Web Site. The chapters listed below are delinquent with their 79th Grand Chapter Registration. PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE CONCLAVE ASAP. Contact Theron Hightower if you have any questions.

CONCLAVE HOSPITALITY SUITE: The Southwestern Province will have a hospitality suite during the Conclave. The Province will cover the full cost of the Suite to show its appreciation to chapters completing their certification packet on time.

50 MILLION POUND CHALLENGE
The Southwestern Province will participate in the 50 Million Pound Challenge. The 50 Million Pound Challenge is one of the core initiatives from the Grand Polemarch. In addition, the Southwestern Province will host a province weight loss contest for chapter to participate. To participate in the contest, you must access the 50 Million Pound Challenge website (www.50millionpoundschallenge.com) and register yourself and/or your chapter. Prizes will be awarded at the Conclave in Dallas (August 2009 to the chapter that is the most successful in its weigh loss efforts. K-100
Brother Jerome Brown (Hattiesburg) is leading the K-100 for the Southwestern Province. The K-100 Program is one of the core initiatives from the Grand Polemarch. The Program goal is to identify brothers (active or inactive) that have access to corporate dollars. The Southwestern Province goal is to identify 25-30 brothers who the fraternity can solicit $1,000 per year for three years. If you know any brothers who fit the K-100 criteria, please forward their names to Jerome Brown (cjeromebrown@hotmail.com).

The 31st C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference has been rescheduled for September 17-19, 2009 on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi.  The host chapters are Zeta Zeta (MVSU) and Greenville Alumni.  This conference open to ALL member; however, attendance is mandatory for all chapter Polemarchs, Keeper of Records, Keeper of Exchequers, Membership Orientation Intake Program Chairmen and Undergraduate Chapter Advisors.

There are two host hotels, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites.  The room rate for each hotel is $89.00 per night.  When making your reservation, ask for the Kappa Alpha Psi room rate.  The deadline date for this discounted rate is August 1, 2009! Due to limited space at each hotel, we encourage you NOT to wait until the deadline date. Below is contact information for each hotel:

Conference registration will open Monday, May 10, 2009.  Registration information can be found on the Southwestern Province website at www.southwesternprovince.org.  You can register online (recommended method) or print and mail in registration forms.  Regular registration conference fees are: Undergraduate--$40.00 and Alumni--$60.00.  Regular registration will close July 1, 2009! After July 1st, late registration fees will be Undergraduate--$50.00 & $70.00-Alumni.  The Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by August 28th.  Online registration will end on September 4, 2009.  Registration after these deadlines will be onsite beginning September 18th.  Only cash or money orders will be accepted for onsite registration.

All planning to attend conference must confirm so by registering online or via mail.  This includes any New Initiates who were initiated after the October 2008 CRWLC in Lake Charles whose registration is already “pre-paid” as part of their initiation fees.  Any new initiate not registering before the regular registration deadline of July 1, 2009 must pay the $10.00 late registration fee adder.  Hence, register before July 1, 2009 to avoid additional fees.

CHAPTER CERTIFICATION
The 2009-2010 Chapter Certification period starts on August 1, 2009. Every chapter is required to submit a chapter certification packet to the Southwestern Province no later than October 31, 2009. Chapters wanting to participate in the Fall 2008 Membership Orientation Intake Program must submit their packets by October 3, 2009. The chapter’s executive officers should read and discuss the attached chapter certification criteria document prior to completing and submitting the packet to the Southwestern Province. More information on the Chapter Certification process will be discussed during the Chapter Certification Workshop and will later be found on the SW Province website. 74th SOUTHWESTERN PROVINCE MEETING
The 74th Southwestern Province Council is scheduled for March 24-28, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. The host hotel is the Sheraton - Downtown. The registration form will be available on the Southwestern Province website by September 15, 2009. Please forward questions regarding the Province meeting to Tim Albert (tfalbert@pvamu.edu).
